Q: If I originally purchased a T12 course voucher but now want to train on the TF20 instead, may I do so?
A: These changes are handled on a case by case basis. Use the training coordinator form to inquire about making such a change.
Q: If I can only attend 1 or 2 days out of the 3 day session, may I get a discount?
A: Our Academy does not offer discounts for abbreviated courses. If you would like a shorter course you can purchase a custom training session.
Q: May I bring/run my own samples during the course?
A: Not normally. Contact the training coordinator .
Q: May I speak directly w/the course instructor? I have specific technical questions.
A: Contact the training coordinator . He/she will connect you with them.
Q: What if I have little to no experience on this system?
A: Our courses are meant to provide a basic/general level of training on the system and our trainees generally range from novice to expert.
Q: Are there materials I should review in preparation for the course?
A: No. You will receive your course manual upon arrival. The instructor will take you through the material throughout the session.
Q: Do I need a voucher number for the online course registration procedure? How do I obtain one?
A: A voucher number is no longer required to register for a course at our Academy. Vouches will still be issued when training is purchased along with a microscope, but you can also pay for your course directly through the web site.
Q: It's been over a year and my voucher has since expired. Can I still use it?
A: Vouchers are generally valid for one year. If your voucher is about to expire, or has expired contact the training coordinator to make arrangements to use your voucher.
Q: I don't see a course for my specific training needs. Can you accommodate me?
A: We have a Customer Specific Training course available. You tell us exactly what you need to be trained on and we will do our best to cater 2 days of training for you. Contact the training coordinator for details and cost.
Q: I need training on a system that is not listed. What are my options?
A: Since we do not have ALL Thermo Scientific systems available in our lab, we recommend On-Site Training. We send an Applications Engineer out to your site to train you and your team. Contact the training coordinator for details and cost.
Q: Do I have to pay for the hotel accommodation?
A: Yes, hotel accommodation for course days is NOT included in the course fee.
Europe
Q: How do I make a hotel reservation in Eindhoven?
A: We recommend booking online a room at the 4-star hotel Park Plaza Eindhoven, with a special course rate of EUR 89 per night including breakfast and WiFi, exclusive EUR 3.50 local tax. We will send you the booking link when we have received your registration.
Q: Do I need a credit card or can I pay the hotel bill cash?
A: Upon hotel check-in, your personal credit card is needed. In case you travel without credit card and pay cash, the hotel may ask you upon check-in for a cash deposit of EUR 50 for every night of your stay.
Q: What about taxi transportation in Eindhoven?
A: During course days, the hotel Park Plaza Eindhoven offers a free complimentary shuttle service to and from Thermo Fisher Scientific (to be booked at check-in).
Payment FAQs
Q: What method of payment do you accept?
A: In North America, credit cards are the primary method of payment. We accept American Express, Visa, or Master Card. In Europe and China you will be able to submit a purchase order for your course selections.
Q: How does the purchase order process work?
A: Purchase orders are accepted worldwide (credit cards are the preferred payment method in North America). If you are paying for your course with a purchase order, you may browse the course catalog and add courses to your quote list. Once you submit the list of courses and your contact information through the web site, you will receive an official quote from an Thermo Fisher Scientific representative (within 2 business days) along with details for submitting your purchase order to us. Once we receives your purchase order, you will receive an email with instructions for completing your registration. Your purchase order must be received 20 working days (10 working days in North America) prior to the scheduled class to reserve your seat.
Q: What credit cards do you accept?
A: We accept American Express, Visa, or Master Card. At this time credit cards are only accepted in North America.
Q: Can I use a credit card to pay for courses in Europe or China?
A: At this time, credit cards are only accepted in North America. We accept purchase orders in all other regions.
