Thermo Fisher Scientific strives towards integrating health, safety, and environment into our business. To this end, we actively seek ways in which we can reduce our overall environmental impact. One way we are doing this is the installation of an array of solar panels at our headquarters in Hillsboro, OR.
The ground-based solar-tracking array will allow us to meet our energy needs and realize long-term savings while still being an environmentally responsible company. The estimated annual production rate of 483,000 KWh equals an estimated financial savings of $41,000. Projected out over its estimated lifetime, this solar array should produce 16.8 million KWh of power and save us nearly $1.5 million.
At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we pride ourselves on enabling customers to "find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries, increase productivity, and ultimately change the world." As such advances increase solar cell efficiency, we can now also pride ourselves on being a part of the end solution.
